• Green's at the Coeliac Food Fayre, Carlisle!

    The Carlisle Food Fayre is taking place on Saturday 16th November at Carlisle Racecourse and we will be exhibiting between 10:30 - 2:30, so do come along and say hello!

    The gluten-free event is a mecca for those with special diets and we will be offering samples of our delicious gluten free treats for visitors.

    We are also going to be launching some new products such as our gluten-free suet pastry, samples of our gluten-free dumplings (including kits so you can make these yourself!), gluten-free Christmas treats and of course, our legendary gluten-free chocolate damson pudding!

    Greens' chef, Andy, the brains behind 'Custom Cake Art' will be exhibiting there also, showing a selection of his gluten-free and dairy-free offerings.

  • Healthier Menu Awards recoginition for Green's!

    At Green's, we specialise in offering healthy, seasonal comfort food for all, locally sourced where possible and it's always good to be recognised from time to time!

    South Lakeland District Council have bestowed upon us a 'healthier menu' award, a nod to the healthier food options incorporated into our menu's.

    The award was initiated to encourage all food catering businesses to include healthier choices for their customers.  To qualify for the award, food businesses must maintain excellent food hygiene standards, using healthy ingredients and healthier techniques in preparation.

    We are delighted to be recognised and will continue to strive to offer the very best dishes for all of our customer needs.

  • FREE Celia Gluten-free lager for our gluten-free diners!

    It's the weekend again, which can mean only one thing: evening opening at Green's!

    We recently launched 'Celia' gluten-free lager, and are delighted to say we are the only stockists outside of the capital to be selling this.

    Deliciously refreshing, we're keen for everyone to have a taste and therefore, we are offering each 'gluten-free diner' one free bottle when dining with us in the evening, until the end of July.

    We're open tonight, tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6pm - don't forget to book!

    Greens is delighted to be serving CELIA lager, the only lager in the world with no gluten, only natural carbonation and 100% Saaz hops.

    Delicious and winner of the 2013 prestigious FreeFrom ‘Best Gluten Free Beer’ award, we're delighted to be CELIA's only stockist outside of London!

    CELIA is the result of a unique patented 59 day craft brewing process with the benefit of containing only natural carbonation thanks to being craft brewed in open fermentation ‘squares’.  Many breweries strive for increased volume and thus accelerate fermentation by using closed tanks resulting in the need to add CO2.  Indeed, mainstream brewers even go as far as making stronger batches and then watering down the beer.  Zatecky Pivovar, brewer of CELIA in the Czech Republic strictly bans this technique following their 200 year old brewing principles.

  • Celebrate Coeliac Awareness Week at Green's!

    It's Coeliac Awareness Week!

    And, in celebration, we have created a very special dish for our customers.

    We will be serving 'puy lentil ragu with roasted vegetables and toasted seeds' with a delicious mixed salad all week.  Do pop in and try our 'special' and of course, our other gluten-free treats.

    In a week of celebrations, we will also be creating a 'sandwich of the day' as a nod to 'sandwich week' - choose from regular or gluten-free bread and a selection of our scrumptious fillings.

    Whatever you decide to celebrate this week, we hope you'll be doing it with us!

  • Our 'Feast for the Fells' packed lunch, now available for order

    Yes, it's soggy outside, but come rain or shine, Green's are working away to make your stay in the Lake District as enjoyable as possible.

    We are very happy therefore to launch our 'feast for the fells' packed lunch, perfect for walkers, explorers, coast-to-coasters, and anyone seeking good quality homemade food, packed and ready to go!

    Each packed lunch, which will cost £7.95, will comprise: a sandwich with a choice of fillings (2 fillings; 1 condiment from our menu), a homemade cake, a sausage roll and a piece of fruit.

    Very importantly, gluten-free and all other dietary specific versions will be available.   Each packed lunch will be ready for collection from Green's from 8am.   Ideally, these should be pre-ordered, with orders for the same day taken up until 07:30.

  • The 'Cumbrian High Tea', now being served at Green's

    There's nothing quite like a 'cream tea' to feel the spirit soar!  And, with summer looming, we have created a very special version of the traditional offering.

    Greens' 'Cumbrian High Tea' is now available and we're more than a little bit excited about it!  Comprising a sandwich with a choice of locally sourced fillings, a sausage roll, a scone with homemade Crosthwaite jam and clotted cream and a homemade cake with tea, it's the ultimate treat.

    A glass of bubbly is optional, but very tempting!  With Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan versions available, no-one need miss out.  The Cumbrian High Tea costs £10.00 or, £14.95 with a glass of bubbly.

  • Our gluten-free suet puddings are going down a storm!

    It has been said that we don't mind setting ourselves the occasional challenge and the successful creation of our gluten-free suet pudding range is a challenge that we have definitely won!

    Creating a gluten-free suet pudding is no easy feat, but we've pulled it off, with both sweet and savoury versions now available on our menu.

    Choose from a syrup sponge pudding served with cream, ice-cream or custard, or if you favour a more savoury taste, we are loving our new rustic tomato and vegetable stew pudding.  There's also a traditional steak pudding on offer!

    Of course, it's not only a gluten-free dish.  We have regular puddings too for those without special dietary requirements, so nobody has been forgotten!

  • The great 'gluten-free pie' launch, at Green's

    We don't like to blow our own trumpet, but we just can't resist having a bit of a shout about our new range of gluten-free pies!

    Now on the menu and created with gluten free shortcrust pastry, our delicious pie fillings comprise steak and red wine, chicken and cheese and onion.

    We are still on the look out for more general 'taster's' for our range of dishes, but we would also love some volunteers to sample our growing range of gluten-free food.

  • Chilli Jam now retailing at Green's

    We have many dishes at Green's that our customer's proclaim to be their favourite.  As for me, well, I don't believe I could even make a choice.

    One of my particular favourites, however, is our chilli jam, made on the great stove in the Green's test kitchen!  Both gluten-free and suitable for vegans,  our customer's have also given it the 'thumbs up'.

    Chilli, lime and ginger are the key ingedients and it certainly packs a punch.  And the best bit is, you don't have to enjoy it only at Green's.  You can take it home with you, as we are now selling this from the cafe.

    Pop in and pick up a jar.  And whilst you're there, why not try another favourite - plum, ginger and cardamon sweet jam.  Delicious!
