  • We Are Back Open!!

    We are back, all be it slowly, open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday this week, (7th, 8th, and 9th May), 9.30am - 4pm.

    Friday 14th, 15th, 16th, outside and all being well back inside from the 17th May.

    We have lots of weddings this year so our opening hours may vary a little, check back here for updates.

    Bringing Greens to your door! By customer demand, we`re busy this week putting the finishing touches to our brand new "Home from Home" collection and delivery service. We will be taking orders for the Christmas holidays so check back here soon. We will have gluten free, vegetarian and vegan menus available!

     

  • Fairtrade Fortnight

    It's Fairtrade Fortnight!

    Once a year, for two weeks (Monday 27 February - Sunday 12 March), Fairtrade Foundation organises the promotional campaign that is 'Fairtrade Fortnight'. Campaigners, businesses and schools get together to raise better awareness of the Fairtrade movement and what it's all about.

    Behind every bar of chocolate, mug of coffee and pot of tea (to name but a few) are the farmers and workers who are working to improve their lives and communities. When you buy products with the Fairtrade mark, you support these people. To learn more about exactly who is behind your favourite cup of tea, click here.

    Here at Green's, we believe in supporting these farmers and workers that work so hard to make their living. We use Fairtrade chocolate to make our yummy chocolate brownies, Fairtrade coffee beans from Farrer's in Kendal and make our delicious Herdy's hot chocolates using only Fairtrade ingredients. Why not pop in today and ask for something Fairtrade?

    Let's get together to support these workers. Why not try to only buy Fairtrade products for this fortnight? It's a simple change to make; just think of the good you'll be doing and how this can change these worker's lives!

  • A quick update + Pancake Day!

    Hello, everyone!

    We're so happy to be back open again after our brief time closed and have been busy redecorating and creating yummy new dishes for our menu.

    Our opening hours have changed slightly and for the coming months will be as follows:

    Monday: 9:30 - 16:30
    Tuesday: 9:30 - 16:30
    Wednesday: CLOSED
    Thursday: CLOSED
    Friday: 9:30 - 16:30
    Saturday: 9:30 - 16:30
    Sunday: 9:30 - 16:30

    Please don't hesitate to contact us on 015394 35790 or at info@greensgrasmere.com if you'd like to reserve a table - we highly recommend this if you are a large group in order to avoid disappointment!

    With Pancake Day just around the corner, we'd also like to let you know that we will be serving pancakes in our cafe all day Tuesday with the options of lemon and sugar, Nutella, and gluten-free options will be available too!

  • Walking With the Wounded 2016 Cumbrian Challenge

    We will be providing Packed lunches for teams participating in the Cumbrian Challenge on May 13th 2016. Lunches are only available by pre-order at bethany2127@hotmail.com and include a choice of sandwich, one of our delicious homemade cakes, fruit, crisps and water.

    Cost of £10 per lunch with £1 per lunch being donated to walking with the wounded.

     

  • Easter Opening Hours

    We are busy baking in our kitchen and looking forward to seeing you all this Easter.  We will be open from Good Friday March 25th until Monday April 4th from 9:30 - 5:30, reopening on Wednesday April 6th until Wednesday April 13th. We look forward to seeing you all and hope you are looking forward to our new vegan and gluten free delights.

  • February Opening Hours

    The paint has dried and we will be re-opening on Friday February 5th. Open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm serving our full range of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan food, as well as our mere mortals menu.  Looking forward to seeing you all!

    Through February we will be open Friday to Tuesdays, with the exception of half term week commencing the 15th when we will be open every day.

  • February Half Term Opening Hours

    Don't want to miss us when we're open?  We get it.

    Our opening hours over the half term break are as follows:

    - We are open every day throughout half term week and beyond, from Friday 14th February until Tuesday 26th February, so come on in and warm up beside the fire, with homemade soup or hot chocolate.

    - If you fancy joining us for dinner, we will be open from 6pm on Friday 14th, Saturday 15th, Monday 17th and Friday 21st February.

  • Whilst you're waiting...

    As you know, we are open again from 1 February.  Not long, but if you simply can't wait any longer, here is a recipe for our famous gluten-free chocolate brownies'...

    Why not have a go at making them at home?

    If on the other hand, you want a taste of the real thing, we'll see you in a couple of days...

     

    Greens' Famous Gluten-Free Vegan Chocolate Brownie:

    Soak one packet 150g of Craisins (dried Cranberries) in 200ml Orange Juice preferably overnight

    Pre- heat oven to 180c

    Melt 300g dark vegan chocolate, when slightly cool add 50g vitalite or soya margarine .

    Combine the following dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl:

    75g Gluten Free Plain Flour

    150g Ground Almonds

    50g Cocoa

    400g Caster Sugar

    1tsp Baking Soda

    Add 1tsp of vanilla essence to the chocolate mixture and 50mls of soya milk.

    Add the cranberries and orange juice and the melted chocolate to the dry mixture and mix thoroughly.

    Spread into a brownie tin and bake in the pre-heated oven for 45 minutes.

    The brownie will be quite soft at this stage and must be cooled completely before slicing.
